The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022

We have had a wonderful time celebrating this amazing moment in history!

On breaking up for half term the children were presented with a special gift from the school in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee. We know that these bears will be much loved and will help to make the occasion memorable and special for our children.

During the Jubilee weekend many children took part in street parties and events within their communities at home. Many more watched the celebrations on the television; from ‘Trooping the Colour’ to the concert (the highlight for many being Paddington Bear!) and the grand pageant. On our return to school children spent time learning about the history of the Queen’s reign and preparing for our own celebration on Friday.

Our celebration began with our concert for the Queen on the playground which was attended by the Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands, Simon Topman MBE and Wedny Morton MP. Mr Topman spoke to the children about his role representing the Queen. Wendy Morton presented a prize to Lionel in year 4 who was a runner up in the Queen’s card competition with his fantastic portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Congratulations Lionel! Congratulations also to ARP1 for winning our ‘bake off’ with their fabulous Jubilee cake!

Our concert concluded with a performance by our fantastic musical theatre club. We then enjoyed our Jubilee picnic and a play on the field. We had a wonderful day and are looking forward to our arts festival in July where parents will be able to come and watch the children perform.
