Dogs Trust Visit March 2023

On Wednesday 22nd March we were very lucky to have a special visitor in school from the ‘Dogs Trust’.  The dogs trust is a charity that cares for dogs and promotes dog safety.

Our day began with a whole school assembly where we learned how to stand safely is a dog approaches us and how to greet a dog appropriately in a non threatening way.  We also learned how to keep ourselves safe in different situations such as what to do if a dog knocked us over.

Following our assembly years 1-5 took part in workshops including ‘Safety and Senses’, ‘Happy Dog Rules’, and ‘Dog Detectives’.  Claire is returning to school in the summer term to do a workshop with year 6.

World Book Day 2023!

We all had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day in school on Thursday 2nd March. This year, we were very lucky to watch a live performance of Alice in Wonderland by the fantastic Hobgoblin theatre company. Both the staff and children thoroughly enjoyed the performance (many of whom also dressed up as a character from Alice in Wonderland). Following the theatre performance, the children participated in a wide range of activities based on the famous story by Lewis Carroll. In addition to this, the children enjoyed meeting with their buddy classes for a shared reading session. A group of our Year 5 children also had the opportunity to participate in a World Book Day quiz at a local secondary school (Aldridge School) where they competed against other Year 5 children from across the local area. As you can see from the photos, the children had a lovely time and couldn’t wait to spend their book token on a book of their choice!
