We have had a wonderful time celebrating the coronation of King Charles III here at Rushall! We began with ‘Eco-Week’ where we were inspired by the King’s love of nature to dedicate a week to planting and tending to our beautiful school gardens and grounds.
During ‘Eco-Week’ we also had the opportunity to take part in a ‘Junk Drumming’ workshop with Bev Cullen. We had a brilliant time taking part in coronation themed drumming using recyclable materials.
During the week leading to the coronation we were very busy creating bunting, paper chains and baking to prepare for our celebration picnic on Friday.
On Friday 5th May we held a special picnic which began with a singing performance on the playground. Our brass band played the National Anthem and our drumming club led the singing.
Our special visitors, Wendy Morton (local MP), David Frost (Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands) and Janet Catto (School Governor) presented the children with special seed packets to commemorate the occasion.
The special visitors also judged our spectacular coronation cakes; some of which were made by our parents!
Our picnic took place on the playground before we moved to the field for a play in the sunshine!
